Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving is looking to make a trade, and according to Elliotte Friedman, some guys are untouchable right now.
With the Maple Leafs struggling right now, there is no denying that this team needs to start making some trades if it wants to be successful.
Unfortunately, making trades is not easy when you lack assets. The Maple Leafs don't have a lot to work with these days, and general manager Brad Treliving has a hard job to do.
The Leafs are looking at players like Rasmus Andersson, and according to reports, one of the demands from the Calgary Flames is Matthew Knies.
Knies has become a blue chip player for the Leafs, and there is discourse about whether or not this would be the wrong move for the Leafs to make.
Elliotte Friedman speaks the truth on the Toronto Maple Leafs
Well, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, you can forget about the Leafs trading Knies right now. In fact, Knies is one of four untouchable players.
The others are guys like William Nylander, John Tavares, and of course, Auston Matthews.
Per '32 Thoughts':
I think it's four guys. I think it's Matthews, Nylander, Tavares and Knies. Other than that, I think they are looking to see what's out there.
This is all probably for the best. After all, you don't want to make any brash decision and get rid of the guys who made your team a success in the first place.
With that in mind, there are a lot of worried Maple Leafs fans right now, and it is very easy to see why. This five game losing streak has been terrible for morale, and it truly feels like the team won't even make the playoffs.
