Ex-Toronto Maple Leafs Goaltender Earns New Deal with the Dallas Stars
Training camp is about to get underway for teams around the NHL, and as it turns out, a former Toronto Maple Leafs goalie is going to the Dallas Stars.
Teams are looking to improve at every position right now, especially as the NHL season is about to get underway in spectacular fashion.
One position that every team needs is goaltending, and for the most part, the market has been thin in this regard. Luckily, the Leafs have two viable starters and don't have to worry about signing anyone else.
Having said that, there are plenty of teams looking for insurance, and one of those franchises just so happens to be the Dallas Stars.
In fact, on Wednesday, it was revealed that the Stars had signed a former Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender to a PTO.
Antoine Bibeau back in the NHL
The goaltender in question is Antoine Bibeau, who was a sixth-round pick of the Maple Leafs back in 2013. He spent numerous years with the Marlies and played two games with the Leafs during the 2016-17 season.
He went on to play two games with the Colorado Avalanche before bouncing around the AHL, as well as European leagues.
Now, Bibeau is going to get to showcase his talents and perhaps even earn his way onto an AHL roster.
In his four NHL stars, Bibeau has a goals-against average of 2.52 and a save percentage of .905. These numbers are solid, and while he may not get an NHL start this season, he does have gas in the tank.
You never know when you might stop getting opportunities like these, so it is good to see Bibeau embracing the challenge.
We wish the goaltender the best of luck with his new tryout.
