Former Toronto Maple Leafs Defenseman Reportedly Already on the Move Again
Last season, the Toronto Maple Leafs traded Timothy Liljegren to the San Jose Sharks, and while the Leafs got very little out of it, they may have won the deal.
Timothy Liljegren is a defenseman who was a bit of a controversial guy with the Toronto Maple Leafs, as fans felt like the Leafs gave up on him prematurely.
However, there were other fans out there who felt like it was time for him to go. Upgrades had to be made, and he didn't develop at the pace that many expected him to.
At the beginning of last season, he was traded to the San Jose Sharks for late-round draft picks, as well as an AHL defenseman.
Timothy Liljegren struggling with the San Jose Sharks
During his stint with the Sharks last season, he played a total of 68 games, which included six goals, 11 assists, and 17 points.
According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, Liljegren could be on the move already, as the San Jose Sharks are looking to make a defenseman available.
The Sharks are looking to move out at least one defenseman, with both Timothy Liljegren and Henry Thrun available
Overall, Liljegren is a solid defenseman, but if the expectations for him are too high, it is easy to see why teams may not want him on the roster.
Based on this news, it seems pretty clear that the Toronto Maple Leafs won the trade. If Liljegren isn't on the Sharks next season, then that is bad news for the stability of his career.
Having said that, we are wishing him the best, moving forward. You never want to see a player have a rough time and bounce around the league.
We're sure if he keeps at it, he will be able to find some consistency sooner rather than later.
