Horrifying Scene as Chris Tanev Stretchered Off the Ice Following an Elbow to the Head
Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman was taken off the ice on a stretcher tonight in Philadelphia after taking an elbow to the head from Flyers forward Matvei Michkov.
Chris Tanev was making his return to the Toronto Maple Leafs tonight. He had suffered a concussion against the New Jersey Devils and seemed to be in good spirits heading into tonight.
Unfortunately, the forward suffered a horrific head injury after being elbowed by Philadelphia Flyers forward Matvei Michkov.
Tanev was not moving on the ice and needed medical attention. He was eventually taken off the ice on a stretcher in what was a scary scene.
This was a truly horrific scene for Maple Leafs fans, and the players who had to watch their teammates go through this.
The fact that Tanev was just coming back from a concussion makes this infinitely worse, as he was vulnerable to this kind of injury coming into the game.
You really do have to thank the paramedics and arena workers for being so fast to provide Chris Tanev with the care he needed.

Chris Tanev has been extremely important to the team's defense, as he is easily the best shutdown guy on the roster.
Now, it really does feel as though Tanev is going to have to miss multiple weeks, and potentially even months, depending on how this goes.
This was just a horrible thing to watch, and we really hope that Tanev is going to be okay.
Our thoughts are with him during this difficult time.
