Mitch Marner and the Toronto Maple Leafs remain in a messy breakup. While the forward is long gone, the headlines have been persistent.
A lot of this stems from the fact that Marner feels like he was mistreated by the fans, who were often obsessed with him.
For many Leafs fans, the Marner saga is starting to get boring, and some feel slighted. They just want to move on, and focus on the season ahead.

With the season about to begin, TSN 1050's Overdrive crew is officially back, which means Jeff O'Neill is back to giving his infamous hot takes.
In fact, this past week, the former Maple Leafs star revealed that if you want to point the finger amidst the Marner saga, you should do so at Brendan Shanahan and Kyle Dubas. Why? Because they gave Marner his peculiar contract in the first place.
If you're going to present him the contract that you did and you don't move him the summer before, don't expect anything different that happened the way it played it out. You gave him that opportunity, as soon as that July 1st kicked in, you gave him the opportunity to do what he did, so there's no other thing to blame than that. He had the right to do that.
Overall, it is hard not to blame Shanahan and Dubas at this point. They made a ton of questionable decisions, and the Leafs continue to pay the price.
Now, the Leafs must simply move on and let the Marner days behind them. After all, it's not like he was a sensational playoff performer.
The season will officially begin in a few weeks from now, and there is a lot of hype around this Maple Leafs team, Marner or no Marner.
Hopefully, the narratives of the past will be shaken off quickly, and everyone can just move on.
