Jack Roslovic Receives Bad News from the Toronto Maple Leafs
Free agent forward Jack Roslovic has been on the Toronto Maple Leafs' radar for a few months at this point, although a contract has not yet been offered.
Jack Roslovic is someone the Toronto Maple Leafs have been contemplating signing. After all, he is used to play with Auston Matthews, and he is a solid middle-six presence who can get you 20 goals in a season.
With the Carolina Hurricanes last season, the forward had 22 goals and 17 assists for 39 points. However, despite his best efforts, he has yet to be signed for the 2025-26 season.
Training camp is officially underway, and the Leafs even have a preseason game under their belt. Despite this, Roslovic has yet to be signed to a deal.
Jack Roslovic remains a free agent
This is all quite shocking, and as it turns out, things are not looking up for Roslovic right now, as he could very well be pricing himself out of the market.
According to Chris Johnston of The Athletic, the Maple Leafs are effectively out on Roslovic. Instead, his best options are currently the Vancouver Canucks and the Montreal Canadiens.
Montreal's a team that's talked about looking for a center; Vancouver; these teams have been around Roslovic at various points; I don't see the Leafs as being as much a fit right now; they have too many forwards.
Any team is better than no team at this stage. However, it just doesn't seem all that likely that Roslovic will have a deal before the start of the season.
He seemingly wants to remain in the NHL and North America. Unfortunately, for him, that might mean taking an extreme pay cut.
The Maple Leafs have an abundance of talent right now, so it makes sense that they wouldn't want to disrupt that in any way, shape or form.
Based on that first preseason game, it does feel as though the Maple Leafs' depth is about to be on a whole new level.
