James Reimer Delivers Sobering Comments About His Toronto Maple Leafs Future
James Reimer is attempting to make the Toronto Maple Leafs on a PTO, and his last game against the Detroit Red Wings wasn't exactly a ringing endorsement.
With Joseph Woll out due to a leave of absence, the Toronto Maple Leafs have employed James Reimer on a PTO.
The former Leafs netminder is trying to make the team, and while it is not going to be easy, there are some fans out there who would love to see it happen.
Unfortunately, last night, Reimer did not have a great game against the Detroit Red Wings, as he allowed four goals on 28 shots and had a disastrous final three minutes.
James Reimer realistic about Toronto Maple Leafs future
After the game, Reimer was very realistic about his future, and his comments suggest that he is not expecting to make the team.
He just wants to take things day by day, and in a few days from now, he will have a better understanding of what is to come.
I'm going to take it minute by minute, I guess, and we'll see what happens. I think, like I said early on in the week, it was a joy to come here, and we'll see what happens - what decisions get made, what the need is, and what they think they need going forward. So we'll see how that goes, and we'll find out together.
Reimer noted that it was fun to play for the Leafs again, although he felt as though he had made some big mistakes during the match.
I thought overall I felt pretty good and made a couple of mistakes. But you try and give yourself some grace when it's your first touch in a while. I thought I was able to settle in pretty quick and was seeing the puck for the most part It was fun to put the sweater on again.
If James Reimer doesn't make the team, it won't be that much of a surprise. However, it would be just a tiny bit disappointing.
This is a developing story that we will certainly keep an eye on as the week goes on.
