Kyle Dubas Got to Play One Last Dirty Trick on the Toronto Maple Leafs

Kyle Dubas and the Pittsburgh Penguins were looking to sell some assets at the trade deadline, including Luke Schenn, who they had previously acquired from the Nashville Predators.

Schenn was someone that the Toronto Maple Leafs were interested in, although the Penguins ended up sending him to the Winnipeg Jets instead.

The Leafs would eventually find themselves a right-handed defenseman in Brandon Carlo, who is a better option than Schenn at this point.

According to reporter Nick Alberga, it has been revealed that the Maple Leafs were actually in talks with the Penguins to acquire the defenseman.

However, with Kyle Dubas growing impatient with the Leafs and their various other work in progress deals, he decided to just send Schenn to the Jets who wanted to do something right away.

Dubas has an opportunity to inflict even more pain onto the Maple Leafs this summer as Mitch Marner becomes a free agent.

There have been some rumblings that the general manager might make a play for Marner seeing as though he has the cap space and he also has a rapport with the forward.

However, there is no telling what the Pens do as they also seem to be in a retool during Sidney Crosby's final years in the league.

As for the Leafs, they just lost to the Florida Panthers and the fans are starting to grow impatient with all of these losses against good teams.
