Long-time Sportsnet reporter Arash Madani revealed today that he has been let go by the company after 16 years working with them.

Arash Madani has been with Sportsnet since before the last time the Buffalo Sabres were in the playoffs.
In fact, he has been with the company almost at long as some of today's youngest stars have been alive.
For example, Macklin Celebrini, last year's fist overall pick, was born in 2006, just three years before Madani accepted his role at Sportsnet.
Madani went on to cover just about all the major North American sports with Sportsnet including Hockey, the NBA, NFL, and even the olympics.
"Arash Madani has been with Sportsnet since 2009, covering a gamut of sports - from Hockey Night In Canada to the Olympics, as well as multiple World Series, NBA Finals and Super Bowls. In addition to his television work, he is a regular radio co-host on Prime Time Sports and is a contributor to the online print content on Sportsnet.ca."

Like all things though, jobs and careers must also come to an end. While Madani is too young to retire, he will now be a free agent in the journalism world as Sportsnet finally let him go after 16 years.
"After 16 incredible years, my time at Sportsnet has come to an end. It's never been lost on me that a first-generation Canadian who grew up in Truro, Nova Scotia, was able to live out his dream, covering all of these (sports) on national television. We all understand what we sign up for: a volatile industry where change is constant, and I have been able to avoid it until now. I'm looking forward to what's coming next and being on your screens down the road."
As Madani points out, this is a volatile industry, one that sees frequent turnover even with the biggest names.
We saw a great example of this last summer when Sportsnet parted ways with longtime insider Jeff Marek.
Fellow journalists from around the Canadian sports world reached out to congratulate Madani on his run with Sportsnet.
Among them were NHL insiders Chris Johnston and Scott Wheeler.
Hopefully Madani will get a new job covering our favorite sports again soon.
