Maple Leafs Captain Auston Matthews Reveals The Team's Mindset After Two Straight Losses

The Toronto Maple Leafs came into their series against the Ottawa Senators as heavy favourites, and after taking a 3-0 lead, the belief was that they could put this series and their playoff past woes to bed with a clean sweep.

Since that point however, the Senators have picked up an OT win and a dominant 4-0 victory to make this series 3-2, and given the Maple Leafs past, there are major concerns for many fans.

That concern doesn't appear to have made it to Toronto's locker room just yet however, as captain Auston Matthews has addressed the situation, revealing that they aren't panicking just quite yet.

Unfortunately for Toronto, Matthews has been invisible in the Stanley Cup Playoffs in recent years, and with the chance to end this series, they've gone 0-2 this season, making it 1-13 over the past eight years in potential close out games.

Simply put, it's not been good enough from Matthews or any of these teams leaders over the past few games, and if this thing gets back to Toronto, the Senators will have nothing to lose while all the pressure will be in the corner of the Maple Leafs.

Their next chance to close this series comes on Thursday night in Ottawa, and if they can close it out there, then perhaps this criticism and the worries of the past all go away, but if not, Toronto will be on the verge of a collapse that could completely alienate one of the most loyal fan bases in all of sports.
