Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Brandon Carlo has missed some time with an injury, and going into this week, there was a sense that he would return.
Brandon Carlo is a defenseman who is very important to the Toronto Maple Leafs and their success, even if the team is trying to trade him.
He plays on a pairing with Morgan Rielly, and he has proven to be a reliable guy who covers the right side quite well.
Unfortunately, Carlo has been out of the lineup over the course of the last few weeks with an injury. Last week, he got back on the ice, and it felt like he was ready for a comeback.
It was reported that on Monday, Carlo would practice with the team, and if everything went well, he would play against the Florida Panthers on Tuesday.
When is Brandon Carlo coming back?
Those plans have completely unraveled as it was revealed that Carlo has flown all the way back to Toronto to get some treatment on his injury.
The defenseman suffered an unforeseen setback, and now, there is no timeline on when he might end up returning to the lineup.
Thankfully, for the Leafs, they are going to be getting back Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Simon Benoit on Tuesday, which helps them out a lot.
Regardless, having Carlo and Chris Tanev out of the lineup is in no way ideal, and we're sure fans would love to see these guys make a comeback.
Tomorrow's game against the Panthers is an important one, and there is no doubt that the Leafs need a win at this point in the season.
If they cannot secure that win, then their chances of getting out of the depths of the Atlantic Division are going to take a serious hit.
