Today is a huge day for the Toronto Maple Leafs as training camp has officially begun. Young players will be looking to fight for a spot on the roster, while the veterans look to get into game shape.
There are plenty of big storylines to follow throughout the preseason, although today, the Leafs were hit with some unexpected news.
According to Chris Johnston, Max Domi currently has a lower-body injury and cannot be a full participant in training camp. For now, he is listed as day-to-day.

This is not what the Toronto Maple Leafs wanted to hear right now, especially when you consider how Domi is coming off one of the most difficult seasons of his career.

With Mitch Marner gone, there have been rumblings that Max Domi would play on the first line with Auston Matthews and Matthew Knies this season.
Overall, it makes a lot of sense as Domi is a right-winger who has had success playing alongside a guy like Matthews in the past.
Furthermore, Domi only had eight goals and 33 points last season, which is not what fans were hoping for. A big assignment could lead to a nice comeback in production.
Unfortunately, this injury could put that comeback tour in jeopardy, at least for right now.
We hope that Domi is able to recover quickly, and that this doesn't linger going into the regular season.
