Toronto Maple Leafs Swiftly Respond to Dillon Dube Rumors
The Toronto Maple Leafs have been linked to free agent forward Dillon Dube, although it appears as though the team has a strong reaction to such rumors.
Players like Dillon Dube and Carter Hart are now eligible to play in the NHL again, and many are wondering who will take a waiver on them.
As of October 15th, they are able to sign NHL contracts, and once December 1st comes around, they will be able to participate in real games.
With the NHL announcing this decision last week, there has subsequently been speculation as to which teams will sign these players.
In fact, the Toronto Maple Leafs were linked to Dillon Dube on Monday. Of course, Dube played for the Calgary Flames under the current Leafs general manager, Brad Treliving.
Are the Toronto Maple Leafs pursuing Dillon Dube?
Now, it is being reported by Nick Alberga that the reports involving Dube were incorrect, and the Maple Leafs have no interest in signing him.
Per team source, Leafs haven't explored Dube as an option to this point. Management is currently focused on seeing how camp goes.
Based on his past couple of seasons of professional hockey, it is easy to see why Dube wouldn't get a contract from the Maple Leafs.
He has 7 goals in his last 85 professional games, and that is not going to cut it, whatsoever. Instead, the Leafs need to focus on what they have.
Overall, the Leafs do have a solid roster going into training camp, which just so happens to be starting tomorrow.
Whatever the case may be, we are just looking forward to have some hockey in our lives, real soon.
