Maple Leafs Matthews unlikely for game 6 according to Insider
Auston Matthews will be absent for Game 6. This is according to Emily Kaplan of ESPN. Matthews, who was unavailable for Game 5, will likely not play in the Maple Leafs elimination game against the Boston Bruins due to an undisclosed ailment.
Kaplan admitted that Matthews has been dealing with an illness, but somewhere along the way he began to deal with something else, which at this point is the reason he is unavailable.
It may not be a bad thing that Matthews is unable to go as the Maple Leafs beat the Bruins in their previous game, and more often than not historically, the team plays fairly well without their star centre. The question that should be on everyone's mind is who will step up this evening.
Again, with reports unconfirmed as to whether he will suit up, we'll have to see closer to puck drop but anticipate his absence.
