Maple Leafs send Assistant General Manager to Blackhawks-Devils game, sparking trade rumors

Last night, the Chicago Blackhawks were hosting the New Jersey Devils, and there were plenty of eyes in the building, including from the Toronto Maple Leafs.'
Toronto Maple Leafs fans are well aware of the fact that this team needs to start making some trades if it actually wants to compete in the Atlantic Division.
They currently sit in seventh place with a record of 8-8-1, which simply isn't acceptable at this stage of the game. Fans want them to be a lot better than this.
Unfortunately, the team has some needs right now. They need a top-six forward, and they also require a top-four defenseman. Preferably right-handed and can generate some offense.
This is going to take a plethora of assets, although, as it turns out, the Leafs are not giving up hope just yet. In fact, general manager Brad Treliving has his staff going out on scouting missions.
Toronto Maple Leafs wrapped up in trade rumors
On Wednesday night, the New Jersey Devils were in Chicago to take on the Blackhawks. Representatives from numerous teams were in attendance, including the Leafs.
They had an assistant general manager at the game, and it appears as though the team might just be looking to make a trade here. After all, why else would they bring a scout to a game?
It remains to be seen whether or not this excursion actually amounts to anything. After all, the Leafs could simply be doing some quick research.
One has to wonder which players were being scouted. Perhaps the Leafs wanted to take a look at Dougie Hamilton, who has been linked to the Leafs throughout the past few months.
Whatever the case may be, fans are eager for some movement, and they will not rest until the Leafs make a move and improve the team in a tangible way.
Only time will tell whether or not the Maple Leafs are truly ready to go on a run and make the playoffs.
