Matthew Knies Reveals Whether or Not He Can Actually Make Team USA

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Matthew Knies recently spoke to Joshua Kloke of The Athletic, where he gave his take on potentially making Team USA.
Matthew Knies' upcoming season with the Toronto Maple Leafs is going to be a big one, especially since he and Auston Matthews will have to carry the top line without Mitch Marner.
Furthermore, the forward was recently granted a major opportunity that could change the trajectory of his life and career forever. Of course, we are talking about a tryout with Team USA for the Olympics.
Knies attended the orientation camp with Auston Matthews, and while the forward is not guaranteed a spot, there is at least a slight chance he gets the call.

While speaking to Joshua Kloke of The Athletic, Knies spoke about the opportunity and the viability of actually making the team at this stage in his career.
Clearly, Knies is excited, but realizes that in order to make the team, he must first have a monstrous start to the season where he proves himself.

I know I'll have to have a really strong start to the season to make a good showing and earn myself a spot on that team. But I was excited to see that they believe my game can make an impact, and hopefully I can show that I deserve a spot when February comes.

If Knies does, in fact, make Team USA, then one has to wonder if the team will place him next to his Toronto Maple Leafs teammate, Auston Matthews.
There will be better players who could go on that first line, but the chemistry between Matthews and Knies is undeniable at this stage.
Overall, we wish Knies the best of luck going forward. You would be hard-pressed to find another more deserving of this opportunity.
Even if he doesn't make the team, just the fact that he was considered shows that he has had tremenous growth these past few years.
