Mitch Marner's Behavior at NHL Media Day Has Leafs Fans Up in Arms
Former Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner was present at NHL Media Day, and his decision sparked some debate amongst fans of his former team.
Mitch Marner is no longer a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs, although there are some fans out there who are going to continue to follow the forward's career moves.
This will be especially true this season as Marner plays his first campaign with the Las Vegas Golden Knights, a team with a realistic shot at the Stanley Cup.
On Monday, Marner actually found himself at NHL Media Day, where he was joined by other big-name players like Quinn Hughes and his former Leafs linemate, Matthew Knies.
Mitch Marner at NHL Media Day
After a media tour in which he went off on Maple Leafs fans, many were curious to see what kind of comments Marner would make on media day.
Much to the chagrin of the hockey world, we didn't actually hear from the forward. Instead, he decided not to speak during the event. Instead, he only wanted to do promotional material.
Given the backlash to his recent comments, it is easy to see why a guy like Marner might want to avoid the media right, especially as all of his questions would be about the Leafs.
Regardless, Leafs fans are not too impressed with Marner right now, and they find his lack of accountability to be quite typical, all things considered.
At this stage, the relationship has been permanently fractured, and regardless of how welcoming fans can be, it won't change anything in Marner's mind.
When the forward returns to Toronto on January 23rd, it is going to be extremely messy, and one has to wonder how he will handle the scrutiny.
No one should be surprised if we even see a few Marner jerseys hit the ice at Scotiabank Arena.
