Seattle Kraken center Matty Beniers wants more international glory. The young star has his eyes on the 2030 Winter Olympics and he doesn't care who knows it.

Team USA just secured a massive gold medal win in Milan. Beniers watched that triumph from afar and immediately set his sights on the next major tournament.
The former second overall pick spoke directly to reporters in Seattle on Saturday. He made his long-term intentions crystal clear following the conclusion of the recent winter games.
"Yeah, that's for sure the goal," Beniers confidently stated regarding the 2030 Olympics. "You know, every U.S. player, I'm sure, wants to be in it."
He fully acknowledges the incredibly steep climb ahead of him. Earning a permanent spot on that loaded American roster will demand massive offensive output over the next cycle.
"It's going to take a lot of work, but that's the goal," the young center added. The personal motivation is officially locked in for the next four seasons.

Chasing the American Dream

Beniers is already backing up that talk with highly consistent production on the ice, but he'll need to ramp it up if he wants to put himself on Team USA's radar. He has 37 points through 56 hard-fought games this current NHL season.
That impressive stat line includes 14 goals and 23 assists. He consistently drives the Seattle transition game against elite competition on a nightly basis.
However, his point totals will need to rise if he hopes to be among the best of the best when the Olympic Games come back around.
His two-way responsibility remains a top priority for this expanding franchise. He is logging a heavy 19:33 of average ice time to shut down opposing top lines.
With 105 shots on goal, he is aggressively hunting the net every single shift. The crisp passing he displays regularly creates dangerous scoring chances for his streaking wingers.
Career-wise, the underlying numbers tell the story of a highly reliable top-six piece. He boasts an impressive 183 points across 305 total appearances in the NHL. It's not insignificant, but it's unspectacular.
His defensive assignments are highly demanding and he currently sits with a -2 rating on the year. Making the final cut four years from now means outplaying a completely stacked generation of American talent.
He simply cannot afford to be held scoreless during key evaluation stretches. Taking critical faceoffs builds the exact resume Olympic general managers want to see.
The relentless physical toll of an 82-game regular season grind is always punishing. Remaining totally healthy and efficient is the only realistic path to that final Olympic roster.
Beniers absolutely has the raw talent and the internal drive to wear the red, white, and blue. We will see if his natural development curve matches his massive international ambition by 2030.
