Popular Toronto Maple Leafs Podcasters Eviscerate the NHL Over Mitch Marner Decision
Former Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner is returning to the city in January; however, the NHL has completely mishandled the scheduling behind this.
Toronto Maple Leafs fans are very excited for January 23rd, which is the day that Mitch Marner will officially return to Toronto as a member of the Las Vegas Golden Knights.
Unfortunately, the game will be on a Friday, meaning it won't be part of Hockey Night in Canada, which feels like a huge mistake.
Furthermore, the Golden Knights will be on the second half of a back-to-back, which means Marner won't even have to do any media in Toronto.
Steve Dangle goes after the NHL
This is a huge missed opportunity for the league, and the 'Steve Dangle Podcast' is holding the NHL to the fire.
In a segment that was shared earlier this week, Dangle and co-hosts Adam Wylde and Jesse Blake were very critical about the league's decision, noting that this is why the league is a fourth-rate organization in professional sports.
The podcasters feel as though the NHL schedulemakers don't realize they are also in the entertainment business. As a result, they are making decisions that don't push the game or the ratings forward.
While the NHL probably sees it differently, there is no denying that they have dropped the ball massively on this entire situation.
Everyone wants to see Mitch Marner take on the Leafs, and the more visible the game is on television, the better for the league and the fans.
Unfortunately, someone at the league offices did not get that memo, and now, things are going in the completely wrong direction.
Hopefully, the next time a situation like this arises, the league makes the right decision.
