Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube is having a hard time getting his team to buy in, and this has led to speculation about Peter DeBoer stepping in.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are one point away from being dead last in the Atlantic Division standings, and after a 4-0 loss to the Washington Capitals last night, fans are out for blood.
After the game, Leafs head coach Craig Berube was brutally honest about his team's effort. The players look checked out, and forwards like Auston Matthews and William Nylander simply aren't good enough.
Elliotte Friedman revealed "consequences" could be coming, with Craig Berube on the cusp of meeting a harsh fate.
The Leafs play the Nashville Predators and Dallas Stars this weekend, and if they lose both of those matches, Berube could be gone. For reporter Howard Berger, Berube's fate has been sealed.

Howard Berger believes Craig Berube is out and Peter DeBoer is in

In a new article on Between The Posts, Berger explains how the Maple Leafs will likely swap out Berube for Peter DeBoer.
However, he does not believe this change will actually work beyond just the preliminary burst of energy that a new head coach tends to bring.
Nothing dramatic will change on the ice, other than, maybe, during the honeymoon period of a new bench boss; the jolt of energy that most teams encounter when a change is made. Matthews and Nylander are locked into big-money contracts that cannot be touched by management.
Morgan Rielly, John Tavares, William Nylander, and Auston Matthews have been coach killers early on in their careers, and there is no telling if they will ever shake that off.
The Leafs have to really look deep down within themselves and ask whether or not they have what it takes to win a Stanley Cup.
At this point, the simple answer is no. No, they do not. It doesn't feel like that is going to change anytime soon.
