Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander had a bad game against the Washington Capitals, and there has been immense pressure on him to get it together.
William Nylander has just four points in his last eight games, after starting the season with 32 points in 21 games. His effort has been poor, and the Leafs' results reflect that.
Perhaps Thursday night's game against the Washington Capitals was the straw that broke the camel's back, as Nylander was just awful, generating one shot on goal.
He has been playing alongside Auston Matthews and Matthew Knies, yet he still can't seem to get anything going, which has left fans frustrated.
Before heading to Nashville, the Leafs held a practice in Washington on Friday, and Nylander made sure to show a bit of leadership.
William Nylander vows to be better for the Maple Leafs
As you can see in the post below Joshua Kloke, you can see that Nylander was the first player on the ice, showing that he is ready to work.
It is a nice change of pace from the nonchalant version of Nylander, who didn't have much to say after the team got taken out on Thursday.
Overall, the Maple Leafs have a lot to figure out, and one solid practice from Nylander is not enough to put this team back on the right track.
They are currently seventh in the Atlantic Division, and there are plenty of fans out there who believe things are not going to get any better.
It's a tough pill to swallow, but the Maple Leafs are struggling mightily right now, and Thursday night was simply one of many bad games.
It's going to be difficult for the Leafs to get back to where they need to be, and this weekend's slate against the Nashville Predators and Dallas Stars could leave the team in an insurmountable hole.
