Robert Thomas trade watch just hit maximum volume, and St. Louis Blues fans can feel the clock squeezing.

Pierre LeBrun flagged Thursday as a massive day because Thomas owns a full no trade clause, and any deal needs his green light.
That matters because the NHL trade deadline lands Friday, March 6, and the real work happens before the paperwork rush.
Thomas is the kind of center you do not casually move, but the noise is not fading.
He has 11-22-33 in 44 games this season, and he has not played since Jan. 10 while dealing with a lower body injury.
Now connect the dots to LeBrun's second post, because Utah just showed its hand.
The Utah Mammoth went out and landed MacKenzie Weegar without touching their very best futures, exactly like LeBrun hinted.
Weegar cost Utah Olli Maatta, prospect Jonathan Castagna, and three 2026 second round picks, and Weegar had to waive his no trade clause to make it happen.
That is a clean «win now» add on the blue line, with Weegar signed long term at a $6.25 million cap hit.

Robert Thomas and St. Louis Blues feel the squeeze

Blues fans are stuck in that brutal place where you want a reset, but you also know trading your best center can haunt you for years.
Utah keeping its top prospects and first rounders in place is the key leverage point.
It means the Mammoth can still come over the top for Thomas if he decides the fit is right.
And if Thomas wants time to think, St. Louis has to decide whether waiting costs them the best offer.
Either way, Thursday feels like the real deadline, because the player's «yes» is the whole deal.
