Florida Panthers forward Sam Bennett could be exploring free agency this summer, and it has led to concerns about what teams like the Toronto Maple Leafs would pay him.
Sam Bennett is having a sensational season with the Florida Panthers. He just came off a career-high in points with 51, and he has 15 points in 16 playoff games.
However, once the Stanley Cup Finals are over, the forward does not have a contract for next season. He will be an unrestricted free agent, and he can sign with whomever he wants.
While current reports suggest he would prefer to stay with the Florida Panthers, there are also rumors that he would like to go to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
How much is Sam Bennett going to make in free agency?
Meanwhile, reporters have been claiming that Bennett could demand between $9-$10 million per season on the open market. A bit steep for a guy who only hit 50 points this season.
Well, Frank Seravalli is in agreement with just how ridiculous these assessments are. While speaking on Daily Faceoff Live, he claimed that if anything, Bennett will max out at $7.5 million per season.

Ultimately, there is no telling what is going to happen next for Bennett and the free agency market. We will just have to wait and see.

Bennett is someone who rises to the occasion in the playoffs and has proven himself to be a player that you want on your team.
If Brad Treliving could pull off a Bennett signing in the offseason, it would be considered one of his best moves as general manager of the Leafs.
