Toronto Maple Leafs Get Bad News Concerning Mason McTavish
Mason McTavish has yet to sign a contract with the Anaheim Ducks, which has subsequently led to lots of speculation about the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The Anaheim Ducks and Mason McTavish have yet to agree on the terms of a new contract, which is a bit surprising when you consider just how important McTavish is to that franchise.
It seems like the term and the dollar amount are getting in the way right now. Going into training camp, there remains a ton of uncertainty surrounding the forward.
There have even been rumblings that some teams will step in with an offer sheet. Although, for right now, the expectation is that McTavish will begin the season on the Ducks.

Throughout all of this, there have been some rumblings that the Maple Leafs would love to acquire someone like McTavish in a trade. After all, he is a very good player with tremendous upside.
Unfortunately for the Leafs, that probably isn't going to happen anytime soon. According to Elliotte Friedman, the Ducks have no interest in trading McTavish.

McTavish is fresh off a season in which he had 20 goals and 50 points for the very first time. As a result, it makes sense that the Ducks would be protective of their asset.
Meanwhile, the Toronto Maple Leafs would have to give up a lot, and when it comes to assets, they are in a bit of a deficit right now.
Ultimately, the Maple Leafs need to just be happy with what they've got right now. It's going to be hard, but their roster is still pretty solid.
As for the Ducks, they will be hoping to get this out of the way before things start to take a dramatic turn for the worse.
