Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Easton Cowan keeps getting good news from the franchise, and head coach Craig Berube is certainly making things more intense.

Easton Cowan has been getting the most attention at training camp for the Toronto Maple Leafs, as he is the new kid on the block, looking to become a rookie.
He has done well in the preseason and has been building up some chemistry with guys like Steven Lorentz and even Scott Laughton, who will be on the fourth line.
Of course, Cowan has competition with Nick Robertson, Calle Jarnkrok, and David Kampf attempting to keep their spots on the roster.

On Monday, Cowan got his biggest co-sign yet, as he was on the fourth line at practice, while the aforementioned forwards were all relegated to the fifth line.
This is an indication that the forward could very well be on his way to ending up on the Maple Leafs' roster to start the season, which would be a huge accomplishment.

Lorentz - Laughton - Cowan

Recently, Leafs head coach Craig Berube was asked about Cowan, and his comments further suggest that the forward is ready for the NHL.
I think the detail of his game. We talked about before camp, him and I, about what he needs to do to play in the NHL right now. What's going to get him to the NHL right now, and I think he's done that.

Perhaps this seals Cowan's fate as far as the regular season is concerned. This could be what finally gets the forward on the roster.
Some may argue playing on the Toronto Marlies will be better for development, but if the fourth line is generating offense, then the Leafs should just keep him around.
