Toronto Maple Leafs Playoff Schedule Unveiled as Matchup with Ottawa Becomes More Likely

The Toronto Maple Leafs are on the verge of winning the Atlantic Division and now, the team is dealing with the reality of a first round series against the Senators.
With the Toronto Maple Leafs just one point away from taking the Atlantic Division, there has been a lot of chatter about when the playoffs will begin.
The likeliest outcome right now is the Leafs end up playing the Ottawa Senators in the first round, which would be amazing and the fans want to see it.
However, there is still some business to attend to. On Tuesday, the Leafs play the Buffalo Sabres and on Thursday, they will get to play against the Detroit Red Wings.

According to Nick Alberga, the playoff schedule is pretty well set in stone at this point. Essentially, the Leafs are going to start their playoff journey on Sunday.
From there, all of the games will mostly happen every second day except for the two-day gap between Games 4 and 5.
If the Leafs manage to clinch the Atlantic and face Ottawa, it's believed the Battle of Ontario would kick off Sunday night. The series would then be expected to follow a Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday schedule, with games also set for the following Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday if necessary.
At the end of the day, the job is nowhere near finished for the Maple Leafs and they need to keep up the pace or they will be left behind.
The Tampa Bay Lightning are a good team and could easily win out, this putting the Leafs in a very bad spot. It would be disastrous for their Atlantic Division hopes.
As for the Senators, they have had the Leafs number this season but that doesn't mean all hope is lost.
Instead, the Leafs could very well pick it up come playoff time and show the NHL that they aren't going to be defined by their checkered playoff past.
