Sam Bennett's weekend absence got its answer Tuesday, and Paul Maurice can now turn Florida's focus back to the ice.

George Richards reported that Bennett missed the past weekend because he was with his wife for the birth of their first child, a son.
That changes the tone around the situation right away. What looked like a lineup question was really a family moment, and there's no bigger reason to step away.
For Maurice, that matters because Bennett isn't a fringe piece in this lineup. He has played 70 games and sits at 54 points.
Florida have leaned on Bennett for offense and edge all season. His 25 goals are a big part of that, especially on a team that has needed push from more than one line.
He also brings bite to the bench and around the crease. Bennett's 76 penalty minutes tell you how much of his game still runs through contact and agitation.
Sam Bennett missed this past weekend to be with his wife who gave birth to their first child - a son.

Why this matters for Florida right now

That's why this update lands as good news inside the room, not just a human-interest note. A player stepping away for family is one thing; uncertainty around a key center is another.
Maurice now gets clarity, and Florida get the chance to reset with one of their most demanding forwards back in the mix. That's the real takeaway from Tuesday's update.
The hockey side can wait a beat here. Bennett missed time for a life event, and the Panthers should gladly take that explanation every time.
