It was the talk of the Toronto Maple Leafs first-round 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs series against the Boston Bruins. William Nylander, part of Toronto's "core 4," was absent for the first three games of what would end up being a 4-3 series loss to the Bruins and another first-round exit for the Leafs. The reasons for Nylander's absence were hard to pin down at the time, although he did admit to suffering from migraines when the series was over. He's now gone a bit more in depth.
William Nylander had previously said the migraines got so bad they were impacting his vision. In an interview with Expressen.se in his home country of Sweden, Nylander said he's done work on the issue over the summer and he's not worried about the upcoming season.
Nylander also addressed the Toronto Maple Leafs lack of success in the post season over the past several years. He told Expressen he doesn't believe in curses, and it's only a matter of time before the team breaks through.
Meanwhile, Toronto Maple Leafs head coach told members of the media today that he plans on starting William Nylander at centre for training camp lines, adding Max Domi will likely be on his wing.
