Rick Tocchet left the Vancouver Canucks this off-season, and in his latest interview, he's fired back at those who have criticized his decision to leave the team.

The Vancouver Canucks made a huge change behind the bench this season, moving out Rick Tocchet and replacing him with defensive coach Adam Foote, whose relationship with Quinn Hughes could potentially help the team retain their star captain for years to come.
After departing Vancouver, Tocchet headed East to link up with the Philadelphia Flyers, a team he played 11 seasons with in the NHL, and while many have moved on in Vancouver, there are some fans that continue to criticize him for moving on.
In a recent interview with renowned Canucks reporter Rick Dhaliwal, Tocchet fired back at those critics who criticized him for leaving when things started to get hard with the team and the immense media pressure.
I can understand it... I'm not a quitter but I understand where they're coming from. Sometimes in life you have decisions you gotta make... sometimes you make the right decision, sometimes you don't.

It wasn't a quit thing, it was just something I felt for me to evolve and just in my life, this was the right decision, and there's other things I'm not going to dive into.

I just feel like this was the time.
It appears as though Tocchet holds no grudge against anyone in Vancouver and how things played out, but he simply needed to make a decision for himself and his family, and now he's under pressure in Philadelphia as well, a team that are looking to turn their rebuild back into Stanley Cup Playoffs success.
Ultimately, Canucks fans may feel justified in their criticisms of Tocchet, but he gave it his all with the team and moved on for personal reasons, and now they'll have to move on too and get behind Hughes, Foote and this team moving forward.
