The Vegas Golden Knights are the Stanley Cup Champions and no one can ever take that away from them. Winning the Cup came with some unique challenges. The Golden Knights battled injuries all season, but it turns out the Knights also overcame a challenge that no one else was aware of.
On this week's episode of the 32 Thoughts Podcast, Elliotte Friedman revealed that the NHL received MULTIPLE complaints about the Vegas Golden Knights attempts to circumvent the salary cap. The Golden Knights faced heavy criticism about their handling of Mark Stone and his injured back.
According to Friedman teams were upset about how convenient the Golden Knights timing was. Seeing Stone return right in time for the playoffs certainly assisted in the Knights Cup run, but after an investigation the league found all of the Knights documentation was in order.
With more and more suspicions being raised about the salary cap and the usage of LTIR, it's time the league and NHLPA finally come to a solution that will alleviate the constant questioning of an injury or its legitimacy.
