Alex Ovechkin is going to make NHL history soon, and Marc-Andre Fleury reveals the tough spot it will be for the goaltender that allows the historic goal.
Despite his injury this season, Alex Ovechkin has been on a red-hot tear with a ridiculous 38 goals in 58 games played, and now, he's just four goals away from becoming the NHL's all-time leader in goals scored.
While it's going to be a historic moment for the NHL and for Ovechkin himself, there's one person that doesn't want to be involved and that's the goaltender that lets the goal in, and now legendary goalie Marc-Andre Fleury has addressed whichever unlucky player that will be.
I'd be pissed in the moment, I'd still be pissed a few days later because then you'll be on TV for the next f***ing many years.
It will be a fantastic moment, and with not many goal scorers anywhere near Ovechkin, it's a record that could stand for quite some time, and for as long as it does, fans in the NHL and networks will remember that moment and remember the goalie that let that goal go past.
With eight games left, Ovechkin will have to score one every two games to make it happen and to end the story that's been circling the NHL for the entirety of the 2024/25 season, and with the Islanders, Hurricanes and Blue Jackets all on the Capitals schedule not once, but twice, those goaltenders will be begging and praying that it's not them.
