Ryan Reaves is now in the lineup for the Toronto Marlies of the AHL, and in his first game, he didn't take his time breaking one of the top rules of the league.
Ryan Reaves was waived by the Toronto Maple Leafs ahead of the trade deadline, and unsurprisingly, he cleared waivers and joined the Toronto Marlies, and now, he's officially played in the AHL for the first time since the 2010-11 season with the Peoria Rivermen.
Now, Reaves is finally in the Marlies lineup after dealing with some injury issues for the past few weeks, and to the surprise of no one, he quickly broke one of the biggest rules in the AHL.
One of the biggest rules the AHL employs is players needing to wear visors, but as one of four players left in the NHL that doesn't do that, he had to have his hand forced, and as you can see, he somewhat obeyed the law after he was told too.
Unfortunately, according to the rule, which states players must not tilt the visor back so that the protective capability of the visor is compromised, Reaves didn't follow the rule, and that will likely come with plenty of fines if he continues like this.
When the game got going, Reaves didn't take long to get involved in a scuffle, as he looked to waste no time in bringing his trademark physicality back to the AHL.
Ultimately, the Marlies would go on to lose the game 2-1 in overtime, and unless the Maple Leafs suffer a string of injuries late in the season, it's highly likely that this is where we see Reaves for the remainder of the 2024/25 campaign, and we'll see if he listens to rules after that.
