Washington Capitals Get Positive Update During Practice Ahead of Game Four
The Washington Capitals have gotten some good news ahead of today's Game 4 against the Montreal Canadiens after suffering an injury scare in the Game 3 loss.
The Washington Capitals suffered a major injury scare in the 3rd period of Friday's 6-3 loss to the Montreal Canadiens in Game 3 of their Stanley Cup Playoff series.
A split second after Montreal's Juraj Slafkovsky scored their 5th goal of the night, Washington goaltender Logan Thompson was accidentally collided into by teammate Dylan Strome and was clearly shaken up.
He needed help from his teammates to get off the ice and wasn't able to put any weight on his leg, and he was replaced by Charlie Lindgren.
Naturally, this had Capitals fans worried about Thompson's availability for Game 4 as it looked like he'd suffered a major injury. But the latest update will have their minds at ease.
Thompson was a participant in the morning skate at Bell Centre, and was in the starter's net as if nothing had happened on Friday.
While top NHL analyst Elliotte Friedman couldn't confirm whether Thompson would in fact be starting tonight's Game 4 for Washington, the mere fact that he was in the starter's net in practice was an encouraging sign.
Thompson had backstopped the Capitals to a pair of wins in the 1st two games of the series in Washington and frustrated the Canadiens with multiple massive saves in the opening half of Game 3 before they finally got several pucks past him.
Meanwhile, the Canadiens lost goaltender Samuel Montembeault earlier in the game to an injury of his own; he was replaced by Jakub Dobes.
They've re-called Cayden Primeau from the AHL, a signal that Montembeault may not be available for Game 4.
