Sharks believed to be leaning towards drafting Smith 4th overall

As the National Hockey League Entry Draft approaches on June 28th, teams have been scrambling to decide which player makes the most sense to add to their team to make them as successful as possible, this includes the San Jose Sharks who pick fourth overall at Bridgestone Arena, in Nashville.

The Sharks are believed to be leaning heavily toward drafting 18-year-old Will Smith of the USNTDP with their pick. Smith skated in 80 games, where he contributed with 66 goals and 169 points. During the U18-WJC, he registered 20 points through 7 games.

While the top three picks appear to be a lock in the order of Connor Bedard to Chicago, Adam Fantilli to Anaheim and Leo Carlsson to Columbus, there is a belief that Smith will fly to San Jose rather soon to take a tour of the city he may be lucky to call home. By selecting Smith the Sharks would be passing on possible Generational scoring talent Matvei Michkov.

Whatever happens two and a half weeks from now, lives will change and organizations will look different. The hope from any organization at any draft is always whether they will add a difference maker
