Players on every team around the league are trying to prove their worth and that they belong on their respective franchise's roster for the start of the 2023-24 season and one way to show that is through showing your toughness and dropping the mitts.
On Sunday's game between Original Six rivals, the Boston Bruins and New York Rangers, a heavyweight tilt ensued, but it was severely one-sided.
Late in the third period, Rangers defenceman Ben Harpur dropped the mitts with Bruins forward AJ Greer. Harpur had a slight height advantage over Greer and destroyed him during the fight. The Rangers blueliner pulled Greer's jersey over his head and started throwing several rights before taking him to the ice, where they were separated and sent to their respective locker rooms.
While fighting has certainly decreased in recent years, we're bound to see a bunch more in the preseason as players look to win roster spots with their team for the opening of the new campaign.
