Things get heated when Kyle Clifford jumps Sens player for cheap shot after the period ends
Things got heated when Kyle Clifford jumped a Belleville Senators player after a cheap shot after the period ended.
The Ottawa Senators and Toronto Maple Leafs don't like each other. It doesn't matter if that rivalry takes place in the ECHL, AHL or NHL. While the Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators are on opposite ends of the standings, their AHL Affiliates are separated by just 6 points.
Tonight the Belleville Senators and Toronto Marlies faced off in a North Division matchup. With the Marlies leading the game 3-0, Senators forward Boko Imama tried to spark his team. Imama unfortunately forgot all about Kyle Clifford of the Marlies who never lets things slide.
After the 2nd period ended Imama sought out Marlies goalie Dennis Hildeby and internationally bumped him to try and throw off his game. While Hildeby was unfazed, Clifford was furious. Despite the period being over Clifford charged by the officials and jumped Imama.
Imama was given 34 minutes of penalties on the play including majors for spearing and fighting, he was also given a penalty for leaving the bench to start an altercation. Clifford received 5 for fighting, 2 minutes for leaving the bench and a game misconduct.
Both players could face extended suspensions for their actions.
The first player to leave the players' or penalty bench illegally during an altercation or for the purpose of starting an altercation from either or both teams shall be suspended automatically without pay for the next ten (10) regular League and/or Play-off games of his team.
The second player to leave the players' or penalty bench illegally during an altercation or for the purpose of starting an altercation from either or both teams shall be suspended automatically without pay for the next five (5) regular League and/or Play-off games.
