Referees lose control of the game forced to hand out over 120 penalty minutes on one play
Games between the Florida Panthers and Tampa Bay Lightning are always hotly contested affairs. The two franchises have zero love lost for each other after their playoff series and tonight was no different.
Unlike most of their games, tonight's game was far from a close game. Instead the Florida Panthers ended up blowing out of his Lightning 9-2. As is usually the case with a major blowout, tempers began to flare early in the 3rd period.
It wasn't until the final minute when things truly got out of control though. With less than a minute left things on the ice escalated and the referees lost complete control.
With every single player pairing off the referees were left with no choice but to eject every single player. In the final minute of the game, officials issued over 120 minutes in penalties. The two teams meet again March 16th for what should be must see TV.
