Ryan Reaves noted how playing for head coach Craig Berube and how his first practice was in the top 2 camp openings he's ever been a part of
With that being said, it may just be preseason, but as Ottawa Senators prospect Donovan Sebrango just found out, it's not a smart idea to mess with Ryan Reaves, who's doing what he does best.
In the second period of tonight's preseason Battle of Ontario, Sebrango ran Reaves from behind in the neutral zone. After Reaves hit the dasher, he was looking for revenge, and revenge he got.
After Ryan Reaves got up from being hit from behind the first thing he did was look for the culprit and forced Sebrango to answer the bell. Of course, this fight didn't last long and Reaves was aware there wasn't really a challenge there to begin with.
Either way, Reaves welcomed Sebrango to the show in only a way he can. Both striking fear into the youngster and showing a measure of mercy while still warning him not to do it again.
It will be interesting to see if Craig Berube uses Ryan Reaves differently than the previous coach Sheldon Keefe did. There's been a lot of criticism of Ryan Reaves For not only how ineffective he was at times last season, but the amount of money in term the Toronto Maple Leafs signed him to. Make no mistake, Ryan Reaves can still be effective player even at his age. He's given the free rein to be able to play his game. Part of the reason I believe he struggled last year was because he was never actually given the opportunity to be the player, he was brought in to the Maple Leaf organization to be.
