The Carolina Hurricanes, who were already without two top-six forwards in Andrei Svechnikov and Max Pacioretty, have now lost another one to injury.

Following Carolina's Game 2 overtime win, Head Coach Rod Brind'Amour told reporters that Teuvo Teravainen will be out indefinitely and will have surgery on his hand on Thursday after being slashed by Jean-Gabriel Pageau.

Understandably, Brind'Amour was not happy about the incident, especially since Pageau didn't receive a penalty on the play and he made his feelings known in his post-game media availability.
"[The] 4:25 marker, he broke his hand. With the puck, takes a shot, the guy absolutely tomahawk chops him. Absolutely," Brind'Amour said. "I know we had all the power plays, so you're not going to make it a 5-on-3, but go take a look at the video. He's out for the series, so there you go. They're going to complain about all the power plays, but it's a tomahawk chop. We just watched it. He has to have surgery tomorrow. There you go. So I'm a little pissed, I'll be honest with you."

Now, the Hurricanes will have to move forward without the 28-year-old Finn who had 37 points (12 G, 25 A) in 68 games during the regular season, while also playing a key role on the penalty kill. An update on Teravainen's status will likely come tomorrow, once the Hurricanes know how his surgery went.
The Hurricanes will look to take a commanding 3-0 series lead over the New York Islanders on Friday night. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. ET.
