One of the main goals of new Toronto Maple Leafs GM Brad Treliving in the offseason was to make the team tougher. On paper, it seems he did that. On the ice, not so much.
The lack of reaction to Brad Marchand taking out Timothy Liljegren is exactly what the Leafs were hoping would no longer be the case. Marchand even skated by the Leafs bench after the incident with Liljegren. The only player that engaged with him was Ryan Reaves, who was chirping. New Maple Leaf and Marchand's former teammate Tyler Bertuzzi just laughed as if to say "that's my Marchy."
Whether taking out Liljegren was intentional or not, the response from his teammates was super weak. Reaves chirped from the bench, but did nothing on the ice. Bertuzzi's reaction should be an eye-opener for Toronto's coaching staff.
