Scary scene in New York as defender is stretchered off the ice
Hockey is a dangerous game and everyone that plays it understands that. Unfortunately every once in awhile an injury occurs that leaves fans holding their breath. Tonight during the game between the New York Islanders and Ottawa Senators one of those injuries occurred.
In the 2nd period Senators defender Erik Brännström collided with Islanders forward Cal Clutterbuck. On the play Brannstrom falls to the ice and strikes his head on the ice.
The referees immediately blew the play dead and Brannstrom was tended to by medical staff. Staff immediately signaled for a stretcher and Brannstrom was removed from the ice.
