Insider Believes Kane Wants Toronto

If you have been on Patrick Kane watch, you would have seen hockey pundits link him to quite a laundry list of teams. The 34 year old is almost fully recovered from having hip resurfacing surgery and looking to return to the NHL next month.

The three time Stanley Cup winner put up 16 goals and 45 points in 54 games with Chicago. He was moved to the New York Rangers in a deadline trade. Kane was not at 100% but sill managed 5 goals and 12 points in 19 regular season games. He added 1 goal and 6 points in the Rangers seven game series against the New Jersey Devils.

There are four teams that Kane has been linked to the most, the Detroit Red Wings, Toronto Maple Leafs, Buffalo Sabres and New York Rangers.

Larry Brooks of the NY Post doesn't think Kane and the Rangers reunion will happen. He feels Kane's performance last year left some bitter with how it ended. Brooks has some doubts that Kane can be the same player after his hip surgery. The Capitals' Nicklas Backstrom hasn't been the same player since returning.

If Kane really was interested in Toronto, some cap maneuvering would need to be done to fit him in on a one-year deal since the Maple Leafs have zero cap space.

Toronto has played six games so far this season, holding a record of 4-2. Goal scoring hasn't been the issue so far with the more pressing need on the blue line. Toronto has given up 20 goals against so far this season.

However, having two of the best American born players to ever play the game on the same line might be too good of an opportunity to pass up on. It might just be enough for Maple Leaf fans to stop wishing the regular season away.
