Some really unfortunate luck for Mark Friedman of the Vancouver Canucks last night. During a game against the Colorado Avalanche, Friedman got tangled up with Valeri Nichushkin in front of Colorado's net. After a push in the face from Nichushkin's stick, Friedman started falling backwards. While doing so, a puck shot by a teammate may have hit him or Nichushkin. It's tough to tell. However, Friedman's head hit the ice hard.
Friedman was unresponsive on the ice for some time before he was eventually helped back to the dressing room.
Friedman left the game and did not return. There's been no update on his condition. Colorado won the game 5-2.
