Some insiders have suggested that it's more than just an illness and there's a secret injury that Matthews is dealing with at the moment.

According to Chris Johnston or TSN, Matthews likely not play tonight as he is not out for warm-ups. This could be a could spell the end of the Leafs season.

Matthews, 26, is arguably the best school scorer in the game at this time. Coming off of a regular season in which he scored 69 times he certainly has been off to start the playoffs once the leafs season hinges on their stars finding their footing sooner than later given that they're facing elimination without Auston Matthews.
