Radko Gudas breaks his silence on the hit that injured Team Canada captain Sidney Crosby at the Olympics

The entire country completely lost its mind when Sidney Crosby took a massive, terrifying hit that forced him to leave the game.

Czechia defenseman Radko Gudas took multiple runs at Team Canada's captain Sidney Crosby early on in the quarterfinal game.

The heavy, punishing blue-liner may have just changed the entire dynamic of the tournament for Team Canada with one hit.

NHL insider Pierre LeBrun finally got answers from Radko Gudas following the game.

Gudas openly told reporters he was simply trying to finish his heavy check on the play, and that there was no intent behind it.

The rugged defenseman constantly plays right on the absolute edge of legality.

He did sincerely state that he desperately hopes the legendary Canadian center is okay despite the violence of the contact.

But he aggressively doubled down on his belief that it was a completely legal hockey play.

Crosby has been a big player for Canada, not only on the ice but also in the locker room and on the bench as well. After Canada lost Crosby in the second period, the lines didn't look as good, and it put Canada's depth to question.

Canada is hopeful that Crosby can make a return back to the lineup for the semifinals when they face off against Finland.
