Vegas' Mark Stone Suffers Facial Injury from Brutal High Stick

The Vegas Golden Knights have won Game 4 and tied their series against the Minnesota Wild, prevailing 4-3 in OT and carrying the momentum back with them to The Fortress in Las Vegas for Game 5.

As there are countless examples of during playoff hockey, there was a particularly brutal incident that took place in the 3rd period that resulted in Vegas captain Mark Stone briefly needing to leave the game for some off-ice reports.

Stone took an accidental high stick from Wild rookie defenseman Zeev Buium; the blade barely missed Stone's right eye, and he avoided what could have been a truly frightening and devastating injury.

However, he was still bleeding enough to need the assistance of the team trainer; Stone soon went to the locker room to receive stitches to close the wound.

The Golden Knights were awarded a 4-minute power play; they failed to score on the first portion of the man advantage, but Nicolas Roy beat goaltender Filip Gustavsson from the middle of the slot with 59 seconds left in Buium's penalty.

Stone had been held without a single point so far in the series until he assisted in Tomas Hertl's 3rd period goal, which briefly gave Vegas a 1-goal lead; the Wild scored less than a minute later to deadlock the game at 3-3.

The Vegas captain had 67 points (19G, 48A) in 66 games this year, the highest point total of his NHL career.

His previous career-best output was 64 points (26G, 38A) with the Ottawa Senators in 2014-15, his 1st full year in the League.
