4 teams showing significant interest in trading for Bo Horvat
The Vancouver Canucks are in a rough spot, their season hasn't gone as expected. The team is surrounded by constant talk of their Head Coach being terminated, which has only become more frequent since General Manager Jim Rutherford took public shots at his coach.
Now, it's being speculated that Bo Horvat has been places on the trade block. Especially after reports surfaced that the two parties are far apart on a new deal. Now it appears multiple teams are showing interest in the franchise Center.
The Canucks have unsuccessfully attempted to negotiate a contract with Horvat, who has played with the Canucks his entire 591-game career.
Canucks president Jim Rutherford alluded to the idea that Horvat's sizzling start means the captain could be the catalyst for core reconstruction: «The better he plays, the better return we can get for him,» Rutherford told Sportsnet 650 earlier this month. There is no shortage of teams interested in a top-flight center, either as a rental or long-term fit: Colorado, Detroit, Boston, and Edmonton, to name a few
The Canucks have been putting off a rebuild long enough to where it's harmed the teams' long-term success.
They have the young pieces with Petterson, Hughes, and Hoglander but the question is, with Jim Rutherford and Patrik Allvin there, is the will to make it happen there?
Regardless, the contract discussions for Horvat haven't had an update in a while which looks like a trade may be on the horizon.
Horvat who in contrast to J.T. Miller early in the season appeared more passionate about the Canucks 3 game-losing streak, will leave a hole in the depth someone like Jack Studnicka or Sheldon Dries won't be able to fill.
