After everything that went on with former NHLer Adam Johnson and his death during a hockey game, you would think this is the last thing you would see from a professional hockey player. A battle along the boards between two former NHLers now playing in the Swiss National League featured one of them making what certainly looks like an intentional kick to the neck area of the other.
Martin Frk, who plays for Rapperswil-Jona Lakers, had Lawrence Pilut of Lausanne HC lined up for a hit near the bench. Pilut avoids the hit by side-stepping Frk, and Frk ends up head first one his own bench. Pilut decided to give Frk some extra shoves while he was there, but Frk starts kicking his legs. One of his skate blades went dangerously close to Pilut's neck area, and that's when the sequence ends.
Frk was ejected from the game for his actions, and it appears that supplemental discipline is coming.
Pilut was not cut. However, the blade to the chest/neck area likely didn't feel great. Now we await word from the league on how many games Frk will miss due to suspension.
