There is more concerning news on the injury front for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Last night during warmups before their game against the Ottawa Senators, Matt Murray took a shot that prompted him to leave the ice immediately. Murray was penciled in as the starter but he did not play. Instead Ilya Samsonov took his place and gave up six goals on thirty-four shots as Toronto lost 6-2.

Head coach Sheldon Keefe commented on the situation in his press game conference and said that Murray has had a nagging injury that has been bothering him. Keefe would not go into further details of the injury, but said it was not related to the injury that kept him out of the lineup earlier this season.

{he's been} dealing with something that flared that's been bothering him for a while and that's why he couldn't play

Hopefully for Toronto fans this is just a temporary setback for Murray. He's played better than expected for the Toronto this year and they don't want him out of their lineup for any extended period of time. With the all-star break next week this will give Murray a chance to rest and hopefully recover from his ailment. There was no announcement for how much time Murray will miss.

Murray has had a history of being injured often throughout his career. The Maple Leafs have to hope that he can still continue to deal with whatever is bothering him. Perhaps it is something that he needs surgery on and is putting off to try and compete throughout the season.
