DeBrincat spent the last five season in Chicago and as a player he was productive there. However, Chicago looks to be in the introductory stages of a rebuild. It is unlikely they will be competitive this year. Sure DeBrincat will miss his teammates and miss playing with
Patrick Kane but it might be quite a while before Chicago is good again. DeBrincat even stated, «I'm not so sure it'll be that good in Chicago.» Clearly DeBrincat realizes that Chicago is a long way from competing for a playoff spot. NHL players want to win and play on competitive teams and Alex DeBrincat is no different.
